This week, we welcome Kevin Nordmeyer to the show to talk about sustainable and accessible architecture and design.
Kevin Nordmeyer is a Principal Architect at BNIM in Des Moines
He is a pioneer in sustainable and inclusive design in Iowa, leading the creation of Iowa’s first sustainable buildings in the mid-1990s along with receiving Iowa’s first National AIA Top Ten Green Buildings award in 2002.
He has served as the design leader of multidisciplinary teams on several notable projects, his latest being the Tom and Ruth Harkin Center at Drake University, where he focused his design and research attention on expanding the definition of sustainable design to embrace inclusion, equity, and wellness.
In 2017, Kevin received the AIA Iowa Medal of Honor, the highest individual recognition bestowed within the chapter, for his continued contribution to the profession and leadership in sustainable, inclusive, and gracious design.
